We're doing something new and lovely and exciting. We're treasure-hunting our city of Cleveland. It's awesome and all that we get together twice a month in Asia Town and Hingetown, but let's not forget that there are other amazing gems in this town that deserve to be seen and understood, architecturally, culturally, through cuisine and history. So, it's with great excitement that we begin our on-site get togethers in some of the coolest spots in our town. Another reason we're doing this is because the Flea Family of vendors rarely gets a chance to all be together in the same place without having to sell jewelry, bagels, bbq or tee shirts. Togetherness, camaraderie, community, cocktails. They go so well together. Wanna see who's coming? Hop on over to our Facebook Event Page, and also, invite a friend or 7.
For our series, you can always expect:
- A neighborhood or pocket of the city you might not have been before
- Architecture / Building
- Good food from either our Maker Community or the local community
- A fun party or activity (this time we're throwing a bowling party)
- Cocktails or some kind of drinks, unless they're no allowed at the spot
- A neighborhood expert/representative on site to answer questions and lead tours

Belt is excited to announce a guided and up-close look at some of Cleveland’s historically significant industrial locations. Celebrate Cleveland’s rich manufacturing history with the inaugural Belt Industry Tour. The event will involve both an expert-guided tour via Lolly the Trolley and a post-tour happy hour at the historic Slavic Village social club, The Slovenian National Home, a.k.a. “The Nash” on East 80th.

The Cleveland Orchestra chose Slavic Village as it's 'home away from home' for this year's neighborhood concerts and community spotlight.
“There’s so much rich history, if you look back at what Slavic Village was and represented at the turn of the century when all the immigrants were coming to Cleveland, it was just a huge melting pot,” said Carol Lee Iott, director of Strategy and Special Initiatives for the Orchestra. “It’s gone through some of the most challenging economic times with the foreclosure crisis—we all know the story.”
“But what is so amazing about Slavic Village is that it’s never lost its sense of pride, sense of identity and continues to be a melting pot … it’s kind of a microcosm of the city as a whole, coming from where it was to the future,” Iott said. “What we liked about that was that it’s a great story about Cleveland, we can shine the light on that and be proud of that.”

Join Mike Gulley, founder of Old City Soda, behind the Lounge Bar. He's mixed up a craft-cocktail version of the classic bowling favorite, The White Russian. I think we'll call this one The 8-Pin, since we're playing an 8-Pin tourney on the lanes. He'll also have your Old City Standards, including Dark & Stormys, Palomas, Gin & Tonics and the like. And beer? Yes, we'll have beer. We're at a Slovenian Social Hall after, all, right?
The Lady Butchers of Fleet Street (read more about their move to Slavic Village here) will be on hand serving their infamous Pork Nachos, Molasses Beer BBQ Sandwiches with CLE Kraut and of course, beef jerky.
About your tour guide: he's our energetic attorney and advisor (listen to him on our podcast here), he's just helped his wife welcome their 2nd child (a son) into the world a few days ago, he began a grassroots Development company aimed at revitalizing the neighborhood he grew up in, and he's a tireless advocate and steward of The Nash. See all things Sonny Day over here on his facebook.
