The luxury of creating as a small business is the ability to try new things. Each month we feature our food vendors at The Cleveland Flea in a post titled “Small Batch”. Here we share what our food vendors are cooking-up special for this month’s crowds. Small Batch highlights seasonal, fresh, and limited edition food made just for you. Have a taste!
We’re bringing back the fresh oyster bar for this year’s only Sunday Market, and who better to serve them than our friends at Coquette Patisserie! Season as you will, and then toss ‘em back and top with a cocktail. You so fancy!
There are three undeniably great things in life: jumping into a pile of towels fresh from the dryer, the way a baby’s head smells, and stuffing yourself with a good bagel and schmear. We don’t know about the first two options, but The Spread can definitely help with the latter! Snack on a selection of bagels this Sunday, with flavors including plain, everything, salt & rosemary, sesame, poppy seed, and sea salt. Top with either plain cream cheese, cheddar & chive, thyme & black pepper & horseradish, chorizo & chipotle, or a surprise fruity spread!
Most Clevelanders would argue that the greatest summertime treat is ice cream, but we beg to differ. Give us pie à la mode any day. Sunday Market vendor Cruise-In Confections brings the two together on the menu of their brand new food truck this weekend. Who says you can’t eat two desserts? We won’t stop you!
It’s not hard to get behind Coastline Bowls when you hear about their cause. This new-to-Cleveland food vendor sources the tropical fruits used in their blended bowls straight from the source. Their superfoods are grown by “supermoms”, or single mothers raising families while farming. Try a pitaya bowl blended with a little organic apple juice and topped with yummy granola to sneak a bit more sweetness into your life!
Our tshirts label us “treasure hunters”, but we feel more like pirates with the steal of a breakfast special that Hingetown brick-and-mortar Jukebox is offering this Sunday! Pick an entree (breakfast pierogi with a fried egg, spinach + bacon polenta casserole topped with a fried egg, Cleveland Bagel Co. sandwich with cheddar chive schmear + spinach + tomato + mushrooms + onions + a fried egg, or french toast pierogi served with syrup), a side (bacon or fruit), and drink (coffee or juice)... for only $10! It’s such a steal, you might as well arrest us (please don’t arrest us!)
This year our friends at DonutLab moved into their large truck, and with new quarters came new menu items! Our pick is the Boston Creme DonutLab Parfait: the lovechild of fried dough and icebox pies. Snack on these mini donuts covered in creme filling and chocolate sauce. If you ask nicely they might even top it with whipped cream! Is it a dish for sharing? Well, that depends on how generous you’re feeling this Sunday!
One step up from the sandwich is an Italian flatbread called a piadina. Never heard of it? After you’ve had a bite of Nelly Belly’s “Red Wagon Farm Belly” piadina, you won’t be able to forget it. Picture this: a flatbread folded and stuffed with basil pesto, tomato, sweet corn, caramelized red onion and garlic, zucchini, mozzarella, provolone and parmesan. We’re sold!
What’s better than hashbrowns? Umami Moto’s sweet potato tater tots with sweet curry aioli, that’s what! Get your nosh on with this asian fusion brunch staple... and tuck-in for a bubble tea, while you’re at it!
