SUNDAY WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

Cozy Knits Workshop at Cleveland Flea
Sunday, November 12, 1-5pm

Join crafty smartypants and teacher extraordinaire of Studio How-To, Sarah Nemecek, at the November Cleveland Flea on 11/12 to learn how to knit your choice of cozy fall accessory.  Two knitting workshops will be held from 1 - 5 pm at the market (located at 3333 Lorain Ave in Ohio City).  Relax, enjoy the wonderful food, beverages, and shopping at the flea, and learn how to add a little cozy DIY warmth to your fall wardrobe or home. Or get a leg up on holiday gift making.

Choose your own adventure:

For the instant gratification beginner who loves the trendy large scale knits, you'll learnhow to arm knit a scarf or cowl/snood/infinity scarf. You pick your yarn, learn to cast on and knit and knit away on a fabulous warm fall accessory. ($55)

For the person who likes their knitting done with needles, This beginner workshop includes instruction on your choice of either a warm fall hat, ear warmer, cowl, or fingerless mitts. You get to choose your yarn and project and keep your needles to take home.  If you don't finish during the workshop, you can come to the main studio in Cleveland Heights for help finishing any Sunday during open studio (for free).  ($69)

Price includes everything you need to start and finish your projects (variations are based on yarn quantities and tools).

Please register in advance to guarantee your space.  Walk-ins may be available, but are not guaranteed. Admission to the market is free on Sunday.

Please plan to arrive promptly at 1:00 pm to give you ample time to complete your project.  The workshop will start with a basic introduction to knitting with sample yarn and then get you started on your actual projects.

DIRECTIONS + PARKING

The former Unique Thrift building (3333 Lorain Ave.) is home of the Cleveland Flea during our holiday season. Located in the Ohio City neighborhood, it's located 33 blocks due west of downtown... it's easy to find, no matter how you roll. There are over 1,000 parking spots, both free and paid, within 10 blocks of the event space. We still recommend that you take public transportation if you can (support the RTA!), or share an Über or Lyft with a friend!

ADA parking spots are available in the lot adjacent to the building, which can be accessed via Lorain Ave.

FAQ

1. WHAT IS THE CLEVELAND FLEA?

The Cleveland Flea is a monthly urban treasure hunt that pulls in thousands of Northeast Ohioans to lesser-known neighborhoods in the city. It’s curated vintage meets culinary adventures on the road to the most talented artists and makers in the region. But it’s always been more than just a market. Founded in 2013 by Stephanie Sheldon (Indie Foundry), the Flea started as a way to support the makers, dreamers and creative small businesses that call Cleveland home, while giving shoppers an experience they couldn’t get anyplace else.

The Flea welcomes 140+ vendors and 20,000-30,000 shoppers each month to our Tyler Village home. We consider ourselves matchmakers, connecting Cleveland shoppers with the businesses they love, all in a dreamy and fun way.

2. WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO SHOP THE FLEA?

Totally depends on what kind of shopper you are! Stay tuned to our blogFacebook page, @ClevelandFlea on Instagram and Twitter for vendor highlights, shopper guides and other resources for making the most of your trip the Flea! Have questions? Tweet @ClevelandFlea or email hello@theclevelandflea.com.

3. WHO RUNS THE CLEVELAND FLEA?

Founded in 2013 by Stephanie Sheldon of Indie Foundry, the Cleveland Flea is run by a small (but so mighty) team of full-time awesome peeps who live, breathe and dream Flea. Laura Drapac is our excellent Event Coordinator and vendor liaison. Elizabeth Flanagan is our Logistics Coordinator, and Heidi Rolf is the photographer for of all of our beautiful photoshoots. Of course, Stephanie is at the helm, steering the ship toward brilliant tomorrows!

Team Flea organizes the event, vets vendors, recruits shoppers, procures permits and licenses, hires security, removes trash, rents furniture, builds stuff, plays the music, listens to your feedback, markets the market, encourages partnerships and aims to pair shoppers with their new favorite businesses in a fun and dreamy way. Have questions? Email hello@theclevelandflea.com or visit the Flea Booth at the next event.

4. WHERE DO I PARK?

Stop. Put yourself in reverse. And back up to the Directions + Parking section above. You flew right past it!

5. WHAT IF I CAN'T FIND A SPOT TO PARK?

Best advice: don't freak out, go home and look wistfully at other people's Instagrams. Take a deep breath and turn onto Superior Avenue toward downtown Cleveland. There's street parking for most of the 33 blocks between the event space and Public Square. Will you have to park 33 blocks away? No. Will you have to parallel park? Probably. We can't guarantee anything, but we're willing to bet you'll nab a spot within 5-7 blocks. Stink at parallel parking? Bike, bus, carpool or start practicing now!

6. DO VENDORS ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS?

Many Cleveland Flea vendors do accept credit cards, but not all do. Need an ATM? Here's a map of all area ATMs (or check with your specific bank).

7. HOW CAN I BECOME A VENDOR AT THE FLEA?

Direct your attention to our Vendor Application and Process. Applications are now closed, but they reopen for the 2018 season on January 1. We look forward to learning more about you and your business!

8. MAY I BRING MY DOG TO THE FLEA?

At our outdoor events: yes! At our indoor, holiday events: service dogs only, please!
